Georgia 2024 Baseball

In 2023, the Bulldogs faced disappointment with their lackluster performance. Falling short of playoff contention, they managed a mere 29 wins, clinching only 11 victories in the SEC and settling for 6th place in the West. Their journey in the SEC tournament ended prematurely with a defeat to South Carolina in the first round. The bitter pill to swallow post-season was the departure of key players due to graduation.

The roster saw the departure of six graduate players, notably pitchers Kyle Greenler, who contributed 18 bullpen outings and a single start, and Dalton Rhadans, leading the team with 33 appearances. Among position players, Mason LaPlante, Connor Tate, Will David, and Ben Anderson were stalwarts, each boasting over 50 games played last season. Additionally, the team bid farewell to two drafted starting pitchers and one transfer, namely Liam Sullivan, Jaden Woods, and Parks Herber, who started 53 games and smashed 18 home runs.

Pitching emerged as a glaring issue for the Bulldogs in 2023, with a team ERA soaring well above 6.00. The loss of two starters to the draft exacerbated the situation. However, there’s a glimmer of hope as they welcome back their third starter, Charlie Goldstein. To fill the vacancies in the starting rotation, they are banking on bullpen arms stepping up and new transfers making an impact.

Returnees Leighton Finley and Evan Jarvis are poised to assume larger roles and secure starts in the upcoming 2024 season. Similarly, the bullpen requires fresh faces to rise to the occasion. High-caliber transfers like Brian Zeldin from U-Penn, Daniel Padysak from Charleston Southern, and Josh Roberge from Southern New Hampshire are expected to log significant innings. Chandler Marsh, DJ Radtke, and Zach Devito return, aiming to fortify the bullpen. Offensively, the team’s fortunes largely rest on the shoulders of Charlie Condon.

After an outstanding 2023 season where he boasted a .386 batting average, slammed 25 home runs, and notched 67 RBIs, Condon returns as a beacon of leadership for the Bulldogs. Sebastian Murillo stands as the sole returning player besides Condon to exceed 50 games played last season, with the rest either graduating or transferring out. To replenish the roster, the Bulldogs welcomed a slew of transfers. Notable additions include Paul Toetz from Purdue, Slade Alford from Mississippi State, Dylan Goldstein from Florida Atlantic, Clayton Chadwick from Sam Houston State, and Kolby Branch from Baylor, injecting fresh talent into the lineup.
