Former Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald was spotted working out at the team’s practice facility the other day. Ever since Los Angeles made the blockbuster deal to bring in Myles Garrett over a month ago, there has been consistent speculation. Sources close to some of the players suggesting Donald could return to the team and end his two-year retirement. This is not the first time retirement rumors have surfaced.
Donald’s decision to retire was surprising. He did not deal with any major or recurring injuries. The future HOF was only 32 years old on a Super Bowl contender. Throughout his retirement, there were rumors each season that he could return for a playoff run, but that never happened. Donald was seen on video walking across the practice field in what appeared to be workout gear.

If he does return, the Rams would undoubtedly become even bigger Super Bowl favorites. Their roster already looks like the best in the league on paper. Donald earned his eighth career First-Team All-Pro selection the last time he played in the NFL. At minimum, an impactful rotational piece on the defensive line if he is unable to return to his elite form.
With the upgrades the Rams made to their roster this offseason, the only things that appear capable of preventing them from making another Super Bowl run are staying healthy and maintaining consistency throughout the season. If Aaron Donald decides to come out of retirement, Los Angeles could have one of the most dominant defenses the NFL has seen in recent years.
