Jordan was a three-star high school prospect who signed with Syracuse. In two years at Syracuse, he posted average numbers, never exceeding 40 rushing yards in a game. In 2020, he was further hampered by a season-ending lower leg injury. Following the 2020 season, Jordan entered the transfer portal and transferred to Louisville. In his initial year with the Cardinals, he made a relatively limited impact, carrying the ball only 15 times for 105 yards and catching just one pass. However, he displayed his prowess as one of the premier return specialists in college football, averaging an impressive 36.6 yards on five kick returns. He even managed to return one for a remarkable 100-yard touchdown!

Jordan’s impact in 2022 was substantial, as he put up 815 rushing yards. He continued to make his mark on special teams, maintaining an average of 23.5 yards per kickoff return. The climax of his season occurred in the latter part of the year, with Jordan achieving over 100 rushing yards in four of the team’s last five games.

The strides he made in 2022 allowed him to enter the 2023 season on the NFL radar. However, his elite performance this year has propelled him up the draft as a possible 4th-5th round pick. In addition to his standout games against Duke and Notre Dame, Jordan also delivered a stellar performance against Boston College with 134 rushing yards and a 75-yard reception. Notably, he surpassed the 130-yard mark against Murray State, boasting an astonishing average of 19.3 yards per carry in that matchup.

Big Ten Scandal? Michigan Says Rutgers, Ohio State, Purdue Shared Its Signs

Michigan has submitted documents to the Big Ten conference, alleging that three other conference teams engaged in a plan about the Wolverines’ signals during the 2022 season. The three teams are Rutgers, Ohio State, and Purdue. Purdue played Michigan last season Big Ten championship game. It’s alleged the team received offensive signals from Ohio State and defensive signals from Rutgers.

Michigan beat Rutgers with a score of 52-17 and 45-23 against Ohio State. It remains uncertain whether signal sharing among conference teams violates the Big Ten’s sportsmanship policy or any NCAA rules. It’s worth noting that NCAA rules do not explicitly prohibit in-game signal stealing but do forbid schools from engaging in off-campus scouting in advance of games. Recent developments include the Big Ten sending a notice of disciplinary action to Michigan. The Wolverines must respond to the Big Ten ASAP, and punishment may come down after. The most likely form of discipline will be a suspension for Michigan’s football coach, Jim Harbaugh.

The Big Ten’s sportsmanship policy emphasizes the importance of conducting contests with integrity, civility, and respect for all involved, including opponents and officials. It places a strong emphasis on upholding these fundamental elements of sportsmanship in all competitions involving member institutions. Furthermore, the Associated Press reported on a former employee from a Big Ten program who provided Michigan with documents detailing the Wolverines’ signs and how they corresponded to specific run and pass plays.

These documents included descriptions of specific plays and their associated signals. The former staff member also supplied Michigan with screenshots of text message exchanges with staff members at other Big Ten schools, revealing the plan to collect Michigan’s signals. Michigan ultimately secured a 43-22 victory over Purdue, securing their second consecutive Big Ten title and earning a spot in the College Football Playoff. Purdue, Rutgers, and Ohio State did not immediately respond to requests for comments on these allegations.

CU Shocks #1 LSU in Season Opener

Coming off a Sweet 16 berth, the Colorado women’s basketball team made a massive statement on opening night in 2023. They beat the defending National Champion and No. 1 seed LSU 92-78! The Buffaloes were led by the three-headed monster of Frida Formann, Jaylyn Sherrod, and Aaronette Vonleh. Formann was a star, especially in the second half, as the Danish guard cashed in seven threes on her way to 27 points. In the second half, Formann was there to knock down a big shot every time the Buffs needed it.

“What a great game,” head coach JR Payne said. “Just proud of our team. I’m always proud of our team, we’ve got great young women in our program. I love their tenacity, I love their fearlessness, I love their grit, and toughness. It’s what we’re built upon. So, for a game like this that a large part of the world said no to, a large part of the world said ‘Why would you play that game?’ It was everything that we wanted. We wanted a challenge, we wanted to take our team into the national spotlight so that I could show the world how great they are.”

Sherrod was the driving force behind the Buffs’ success, as she always is. The fifth-year point guard kicked off her final season in Boulder with a stellar 19 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals that exemplified everything she is for this team. She was a force on both ends, creating havoc defensively and pushing the ball in transition to get easy looks for her and her teammates.

Vonleh was there to clean up the mess whenever Colorado needed and was a force on the inside, matching Angel Reese all night. She finished with an efficient 24 points on 11-for-15 shooting and added six rebounds. The Buffaloes came out a little slow offensively, but their team defense kept them around until the offense could heat up in the half court. LSU guarded well early on and took a 16-14 lead into the second quarter. In the second, the Buffs really started to heat up, still making things hard on the Tigers’ offense. They also found a rhythm of their own scoring the ball, taking a 38-32 lead into the break.

“We kind of re-centered ourselves at halftime on what we needed to do to continue to be successful,” Payne said. “Don’t get outside ourselves, just play great basketball one possession at a time. I think that allowed us to continue playing the way we were.”

After the half, it was all CU. Colorado scorched the nets from the outside time and time again, racking up 54 second half points and eventually pulling away from the defending champs. They never letting the Tigers get within 11 points in the fourth quarter on their way to a massive statement win. Formann knocked down six of her seven threes after halftime, constantly halting LSU’s momentum and keeping the Buffs comfortably in front.

Defensively, the Buffaloes excelled in the season opener, keeping LSU’s stars relatively in check and forcing 19 turnovers. Angel Reese notched a modest double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Hailey Van Lith added 14 points with seven assists. Freshman Mikaylah Williams was the Tigers’ most consistent form of offense in her first college game, leading the team with 17 points.

As a team, the Buffaloes turned the ball over 21 times but mitigated that sloppiness by shooting the ball at a blistering clip as a team. For the game, Payne’s group shot 53% from the floor and 43% from three, scoring 92 points against a team that projects as a great defense. Moving forward, the Buffs have put themselves on the map as one of the top teams in women’s college basketball this season.

It was a long shot for UCLA to make the Conference Championship, but it’s all over now. The Pac-12 conference witnessed an action-packed weekend with thrilling matchups that had fans on the edge of their seats. Amidst all the excitement, one game stood out as the biggest upset of the weekend – Arizona’s remarkable victory over UCLA, with a final score of 27-10. This unexpected turn of events left football enthusiasts and pundits alike in awe, as the Wildcats delivered a standout performance that sent shockwaves through the conference. In this article, we’ll dive into the details of this surprising upset and analyze what made it such a defining moment for Arizona.

One of the key factors that contributed to Arizona’s remarkable victory was their impressive defensive performance. The Wildcats’ defense had the Bruins in check throughout the game. They executed a brilliant game plan that stifled UCLA’s offensive efforts. Arizona’s defense was relentless in pressuring the Bruins’ quarterback, disrupting their rhythm and forcing costly turnovers. UCLA struggled to move the ball down the field, largely due to the relentless pressure applied by the Wildcats’ defense. This dominance on the defensive side of the ball played a crucial role in Arizona’s victory.

While a strong defensive performance was vital, it’s worth noting that Arizona didn’t just rely on defense alone. They seized every opportunity presented to them and converted those chances into points. The Wildcats’ offense was efficient and effective when it mattered most. They capitalized on turnovers and field position to put up points on the scoreboard, ultimately taking control of the game.

The Wildcats showed their ability to execute their offensive plays with precision, exploiting weaknesses in the Bruins’ defense. This combination of stout defense and resourceful offense made the difference in securing Arizona’s stunning upset victory. This win over UCLA was not just a significant upset. It was a statement win that had a profound impact on the Pac-12 landscape.

It served as a reminder that college football can be unpredictable and even underdogs can rise to the occasion to upset the established order. This triumph also provided a tremendous boost to the Wildcats’ confidence. It showed that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Pac-12 and can compete at a high level. Arizona’s coaching staff and players deserve commendation for their preparation, resilience, and execution, as they managed to take down one of the conference’s giants.

The Wildcats will undoubtedly carry the momentum from this win into their upcoming games, seeking to continue their impressive run and make a mark in the Pac-12. On the other hand, UCLA will need to regroup and learn from this defeat. The Bruins still have a lot of potential and can bounce back from this setback. This loss may serve as a wake-up call and drive them to further improve and perform at their best in the games to come.

Arizona’s 27-10 victory over UCLA in the Pac-12 was undoubtedly the biggest upset of the weekend. The Wildcats showcased an exceptional defensive performance and capitalized on their offensive opportunities, proving that they can compete with the conference’s top teams. This win not only shook up the conference but also exemplified the unpredictable nature of college football, where underdogs can rise to the occasion and make their mark. As the season progresses, fans can only wonder what other surprises and upsets may be in store in the ever-enthralling world of college football.

The Kansas City Chiefs notched a crucial win in their quest for the top seed in the AFC. In the opening game of Week 9, which was held in Frankfurt, Germany, Patrick Mahomes and his team triumphed over the Miami Dolphins.

This victory solidified the Chiefs’ position at the forefront of the AFC standings, with the Baltimore Ravens being their primary challengers now on equal footing with them.

Miami had been at risk of relinquishing their hold on the AFC East’s lead, but that potential scenario was averted when the Buffalo Bills fell to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night. Cincinnati’s decisive head-to-head victory propelled them into one of the three wild-card slots and knocked Buffalo out of the top seven in the AFC.

At the pinnacle of the NFC standings, there were no noteworthy developments, with the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers both enjoying a bye week. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles extended their conference lead by defeating the Dallas Cowboys.

The most significant changes in the NFC occurred with the No. 4 seed and the wild-card race. Behind the leadership of Joshua Dobbs, the Minnesota Vikings’ victory over the Atlanta Falcons reshaped the dynamics of both the NFC South and the wild-card competition. These shifts were further emphasized by the losses suffered by Dallas and the Seattle Seahawks.

CU’s Downward Spiral Continues

Earlier this week, Pat Shurmur was elevated from a quality control analyst to a co-offensive coordinator role. Shurmur would also be a play-caller for the Buffs’ offense, taking over for Sean Lewis after eight weeks. It’s safe to say the Shurmur experiment isn’t off to a great start… A new voice calling the shots wasn’t enough to dig Colorado out of their recent rut on Saturday, as they struggled to move the ball and eventually fell to Oregon State 26-19.

“This is hard. This is hard,” head coach Deion Sanders said postgame. “The reason it’s so hard is because you know you’re capable of doing better, playing better, performing better, calling better games, coaching better on my behalf. And you are coming up short when you have enough to get the job done. And it’s painful.”

Colorado limped through the first half, mustering just 52 total yards of offense through the first two quarters. They just managed three points on a drive that started at the Beavers’ 19-yard line after a turnover. Perhaps the ugliest rendition of the Buffs’ offense came on their last series of downs before the half. Starting from their own four-yard line with just 49 seconds until intermission and facing a 7-3 deficit, Colorado started their drive by throwing two incomplete passes before finally running the ball on third down. As a result, Colorado punted it back to Oregon State with 22 seconds to go, giving the Beavers the ball with good field position. They wasted no time, capitalizing with a DJ Uiagalelei touchdown pass to Deshaun Fenwick on the first play following the punt.

“Right before the half, we wanted to get out of there because we knew we were receiving the ball in the second half,” Sanders said. “So the plan was to either get a first down and try to go or if we don’t, we’re not successful on first down, okay, let’s hit the clock. Let’s hit the clock. We had a drop, I think we maybe had one or two dropped passes on that series which is very unfortunate, then they get a tremendous return.”

That seven-point swing proved to be massive in a game decided by just one score in the end. The Colorado offense finally got something going in the fourth quarter, scoring touchdowns to cut the deficit back to just seven. However, the physical Oregon State offensive line and strong running game milked the rest of the clock. It was just too little, too late for the Buffs. Shedeur Sanders struggled a little more than usual in this one and was clearly battling through the pain throughout the night. Overall, the Colorado signal caller finished 24-for-39 with 245 yards and two late touchdowns.

“I mean, shoot, he’s been hurt,” said Deion Sanders of his son and quarterback. “I think he went in to get an injection so he could finish (the game). So, it’s extraordinary. The kid is tough. He’s tough. He’s fighting through it, and he doesn’t make any excuses. He wasn’t raised like that. We’re not making any excuses. We don’t do that.”

The Buffaloes’ refusal to run the ball and struggling on the rare occasion they tried to was a big storyline in this one yet again. Colorado finished the game with -7 rushing yards, leaving the offense vulnerable and predictable again. Travis Hunter starred as a receiver, reeling in eight passes for 98 yards and a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Overall, it was the defense that shined for Colorado, forcing two first half turnovers and keeping CU in the game for long stretches while the offense was in the mud.

“Those guys are coming along well, and I’m truly proud of them,” Sanders said of his defense. “But it’s always one play here and there that causes you to sit in this seat and have this mood that I have right now.”

On the Oregon State side, Uiagalelei finished 12-for-24 with 223 yards and the crucial touchdown before halftime. The Beavers established themselves on the ground early and often in this one. Running back Damien Martinez racked up 115 rushing yards on 21 carries. This loss marks three in a row for Colorado and five out of their last six as they fall to just 4-5 on the year, with bowl eligibility looking unlikely in year one of the Coach Prime era. They cap off their home slate next weekend against red-hot Arizona, who comes in after defeating three straight ranked opponents. Kick-off next Saturday will be at noon MST.

It was not easy week for three of the top four teams, as they each struggled to try to stay undefeated. At halftime, all of their games were close. The Buckeyes trailed Rutgers. Georgia was tied at 10 Georgia playing the ranked Mizzou Tigers. We will give them grace for that, though. FSU only led Pittsburgh 10-7, the same Panthers that upset top-15 Louisville. However, the second halves of each respective game were different stories, so let us rank our (SRA’s) College Football Predictions after Week 10.

  1. In a thrilling Saturday night showdown, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. exhibited his exceptional skills by guiding his team to a 52-42 victory over USC. The left-handed signal-caller wowed the crowd with a series of remarkable passes, including a spectacular 22-yard touchdown throw to Devin Culp early in the second quarter. Penix completed 22 of his 30 passes, amassing 256 yards while tossing two touchdowns and adding a rushing score to seal the triumph. This remarkable performance marked his seventh game of the season with three or more touchdowns, solidifying his position as a standout player for the Huskies.

2. Over in Michigan, Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy continued to impress in their 41-13 victory over Purdue. He completed 24 of 37 attempts, accumulating a season-high 335 yards. Despite not registering a touchdown pass in this particular game, the talented junior QB played a pivotal role in the Wolverines’ win. Michigan had five rushing touchdowns, led by Blake Corum’s impressive three scores. McCarthy’s season statistics now stand at a 75.7% completion rate, 2,134 passing yards, and a total of 21 touchdowns through nine games. This makes him a standout performer in the Wolverine lineup.

3. In Oregon, Ducks quarterback Bo Nix continues to make a strong case for the Heisman. His star shone brightly in Oregon’s dominant 63-19 victory over Cal. He completed 29 of 38 passes for 386 yards and delivered four touchdowns, while also contributing two rushing scores. Nix was responsible for all five of the Ducks’ first-half touchdowns, including two impressive TD passes to wide receiver Tez Johnson. Johnson finished the game with 12 receptions for 180 yards. Nix’s season statistics are equally impressive, with 2,723 passing yards and 30 total touchdowns, complemented by a remarkable 78.1% completion rate.

4. In Ohio State, Marvin Harrison Jr. continues to be a game-changing force in college football. The connection between quarterback Kyle McCord and wide receiver Harrison has proven to be highly effective, particularly in the red zone. In a tense moment with a narrow 21-16 lead over Rutgers early in the fourth quarter, McCord found him for two back-shoulder fade touchdowns, preserving Ohio State’s undefeated record. While Harrison may have had only four catches for 25 yards in this game, the 6-foot-4 junior showcased his unstoppable nature when it mattered most, making him a significant asset to the Buckeyes.

5. At LSU, senior quarterback Jayden Daniels further solidified his Heisman Trophy candidacy with a stellar showing against Alabama’s formidable defense on Saturday night. Daniels completed 15 of 24 passes for 219 yards, securing two touchdowns and one interception. He also showcased his versatility by rushing for an impressive 163 yards and an additional touchdown. Unfortunately, Daniels had to leave the game due to an injury sustained from a hard hit early in the fourth quarter. Regardless, his performance up to that point left a lasting impression on fans and Heisman voters alike. The team would go on to lose the game, but Daniels has done enough to stay in the Heisman race.

SMU Takes Another Step to be Bowl Eligible

The SMU Mustangs triumphed over the Rice Owls in a compelling contest for the Mayor’s Cup. This marked their fifth consecutive win, further cementing their dominance in the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Quarterback Preston Stone spearheaded the Mustangs’ offense, maintaining the team’s perfect scoring streak when surpassing 30 points in a game. Stone, who ranks 10th in the NCAA for touchdown passes, continued his stellar season by connecting with wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. for a 34-yard touchdown and rushing for a 20-yard score himself.

Southern Methodist’s defense, ranking in the NCAA’s top 20, was relentless in the 36-31 win. Elijah Chatman and Elijah Roberts both sacked Rice’s JT Daniels, which decisively shifted the game’s momentum. The Owls struggled to harness their home-field advantage and failed to establish a rhythm, which mirrored their inconsistent season performance. Even with SMU incurring a personal foul that set them back 15 yards, Rice could not match the intensity and strategic play of the Mustangs on both sides of the ball.

Following their 69-10 victory over Tulsa, the Mustangs continued their impressive run in the AAC, having outscored their opponents 189-36 in the previous four conference games. SMU’s defense shut down Rice, reinforcing the team’s control and leaving little opportunity for the Owls to retaliate. This game marked the 91st meeting of a long-standing rivalry, with Southern Methodist now leading the series 49-41-1.

Rice, coming off a close defeat to Tulane, couldn’t gain the momentum needed to improve their home record against the Mustangs. Southern Methodist’s offensive efficiency and defensive strength were on full display, aligning with their 6-0 record when scoring over 30 points this year. SMU will look to carry this formidable momentum forward as strong contenders in the AAC, ranking only one game behind Tulane.
