The battle of the lightweight superstars took place on Saturday at the T- Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia entered the ring undefeated, with exceptional talent and a large following. Since both fighters were equally skilled, the question was who would be the champion, Gervonta “Tank” Davis or Ryan “King Ry” Garcia.

The fight kicked off to a slow start by Gervonta Davis. Garcia would open with some fancy footwork, and at the start of the second, he would start letting the punches fly. However, this would soon be a mistake. Garcia would start aggressively throwing punches, leaving his face exposed. Davis would capitalize on his mistakes of Garcia and hit him with a crisp left-handed uppercut. Ryan fell to the floor but would quickly recover.

After taking a face punch that resulted in him falling, Garcia changed his tactic. Ryan began to fight less aggressively and at a distance for the remaining five rounds. Onlookers analyzed throughout the fight, Gervonta Davis was baiting Garcia to utilize his left hook during the exhibition match. Every time he used his left hook; Davis would dodge the punch and counterattack him. This would take place for the remainder of the fight.

At the start of the seventh, both fighters were going at it. However, many had predicted it would end soon in this round or the eighth round. Their predictions were correct as with a minute and forty- four seconds left in the seventh round, Gervonta “Tank” Davis hit Garcia with a liver shot to the left side, causing him to take a knee. The officials counted ten seconds, but Ryan remained on the ground. This is the same way Ryan Garcia defeated Olympic boxer Luke Campbell two years prior. It would be the same liver shot that Garcia sustained from Davis that he would use to knock out Campbell.
