IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team played Kansas State to a 1-1 draw Thursday evening at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
With the draw, Iowa moves to 4-1-1, while Kansas State moves to 4-0-2.
Kansas State struck first when Allison Marshall found the back of the net in the 23rd minute to give the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage.
Iowa responded early in the second half. Berit Parten found Reilly Heman, who buried her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 50th minute to even the match at one.
The Hawkeyes continued to generate opportunities throughout the second half and finished with a 25-11 advantage in shots. Kansas State goalkeeper Maddie Sibbing recorded eight saves to keep Iowa from finding the go-ahead goal.
“The level of pressure from both teams was intense,” Iowa head coach Dean Ward said. “We didn’t control the game, it was a game of chaos. Kansas State made it really difficult. I think we had some territorial advantage, but I don’t think we did good enough to give ourselves proper chances.”
Freshman goalkeeper Braelynn Galt collected a season-high four saves and recorded a shot on goal off a free kick in the 90th minute.
