After the final day of roster cuts in the NFL, there were several noteworthy transactions. Some players who were presumed to be traded or cut ultimately stayed with their reams. Vikings quarterback J.J. remains on the 53-man roster. He lost out on the job to newly acquired Kyler Murray. There was a lot of speculation regarding possible trade scenarios. The former first-round selection will remain the backup this season. He has only played in only ten games in his first two seasons due to constant injuries.

Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson finds himself in a very similar situation. Richardson has battled constant injuries. The former first rounder has not shown enough on the field to make him a starting quarterback. After losing his starting job to Daniel Jones before last season, there have been rumors of a potential trade. The Colts and Richardson’s agent both agreed to seek a trade partner after the end of last season. Nothing has materialized, and he remains the backup in Indianapolis.
Meanwhile, the Super Bowl-favorite Rams just grew even stronger. They are bringing defensive tackle Aaron Donald out of a two-year retirement. The former three-time Defensive Player of the Year was still playing at a Pro Bowl level last time he was on the field. He was still one of the five best interior defensive linemen in the league. Now at 35 years old, it remains to be seen how his impact will be. Will he be an every-down player or simply a rotational and situational player?
However, the pressure is not on Donald to regain his prime form, as the Rams have several other good defensive linemen, spearheaded by newly acquired Myles Garrett, who is coming off his second career Defensive Player of the Year award after breaking the NFL single-season sack record. On paper, nobody else comes close to the Rams this season. Age and injury appear to be their biggest adversaries heading into the season, not an actual team.
