Jake Browning Resigns with the Bengals amid Joe Borrow Injury History

The Cincinnati Bengals have made significant strategic moves today to bolster their quarterback roster, securing the services of both Jake Browning and Logan Woodside. Jake Browning, a promising talent hailing from the University of Washington, has inked a lucrative two-year contract extension with the Bengals, ensuring his presence until the culmination of the 2025 season. Browning’s journey with the Bengals commenced ahead of the 2021 season when he joined the team’s practice squad.

Despite primarily serving in this capacity during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Browning’s unwavering commitment to improvement bore fruit in the 2023 season when he was thrust into action. In nine games, including seven starts, Browning exhibited his prowess, guiding the team to a commendable 4-3 record. His on-field performance was nothing short of stellar, boasting an impressive completion rate of 70.4 percent, accumulating 1936 passing yards, and notching 12 touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Bengals also made a savvy move by acquiring the services of Logan Woodside on a one-year deal for the 2024 season. Woodside, a seasoned fifth-year player from the University of Toledo, brings a wealth of experience to the table. Originally drafted by the Bengals in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft, Woodside has traversed the league, garnering valuable experience in his stints with the Tennessee Titans (2020-21) and the Atlanta Falcons (2022-23). Despite limited playing time throughout his career, Woodside’s brief appearances, completing four out of seven passes for 34 yards, underscore his readiness to contribute effectively when called upon.

These strategic acquisitions epitomize the Bengals’ unwavering commitment to cultivating a competitive and resilient roster. With the blend of Browning’s burgeoning talent and Woodside’s seasoned experience, the Bengals boast a quarterback room teeming with versatility and depth. Armed with these formidable assets, the Bengals stand poised to navigate the rigors of the forthcoming seasons and sustain their quest for excellence in the NFL.
