Missouri Lands Top Defensive Lineman in the Nation

Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz and his staff made a big splash on Monday. They have landed five-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri. Nwaneri is ranked as the no. 1 DL in the nation and the third-best overall player in the Class of 2024, according to 247Sports.

The Lee’s Summit, Missouri native became just the third five-star to commit to Missouri since 2012. Nwaneri joined Luther Burden as the second five-star to commit during the Drinkwitz era. The lineman committed to the Tigers over Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.

Nwaneri is currently a rising senior at Lee’s Summit North High School, and he was a huge contributor to the team that appeared in the state title game last year. 247sports states that the five-star recorded 56 tackles, 12 sacks, and six pass breakups in his junior season.

The Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class currently sits at 55th in the nation after landing Nwaneri. Missouri is still awaiting the decisions of multiple talented prospects. Two such players are: David Dossett and Ryan Wingo. Dossett, a three-star receiver, is a high school teammate of Nwaneri. Wingo, a five-star wide receiver, is set to announce his decision in December.
