This week’s installment of Monday Night Football was arguably the most exciting game of the season thus far. It was an overtime thriller that was a valid representation of the power scaling of the league. Both of these teams went back and forth the whole game. Even with a high-scoring matchup, there were still amazing defensive plays on both sides. The Buffalo Bills took this one 37-34 after blocking a Harrison Mevis kick and hitting a game-winning field goal by Tyler Bass. Here is the analysis of the outcome of this title contender face-off.
Buffalo Bills
What a day for the MVP contender Josh Allen. The combination of his passing ability, rushing ability, and his clutch gene makes him one of, if not the best, quarterback in the NFL after this game. He totaled 331 yards, a passing and rushing touchdown, one sack, and one pick. When you have Allen playing like this, there are not a lot of games that this Bills team is going to lose.

James Cook had a productive day, even though he had two fumbles, losing one of them. Keon Coleman is also slowly turning into the wide receiver #1 in the absence of DJ Moore, which was not on my NFL bingo card. This defense was also playing as well as you can against a high-powered offense like the Rams.
They showed up when it mattered in overtime, with Greg Rousseau blocking a game-winning field goal attempt by Harrison Mevis. Notes for improvement are the pass rush, with only four QB hits, PAT execution, which was underwhelming, and limiting turnovers. If they can work on those, I can’t name a team that can beat them in the NFL.
Los Angeles Rams
The Rams lost a tough one, going down to 2-3 on the season. With still arguably the best team on paper, I don’t see this loss as detrimental to their playoff-caliber ranking. Matthew Stafford did all he could possibly do. He threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns while throwing no picks and only getting sacked once. The running game looked like a two-headed monster between Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.
They did not have the best statistical output, but both scored touchdowns and were reliable when it mattered. The weapons on this team just might be the best in the NFL. Puka is arguably the best receiver in the league, Davante Adams is the best goal-line receiver in the NFL, and they arguably have the best tight end room as well.

Guys like Tyler Higbee and Davis Allen made big plays, with Colby Parkinson taking a backseat in this game. The defense was better today than in the first four games. Aaron Donald had a sack taken back, and he recovered a fumble. Jaylen Watson also picked off Josh Allen. Harrison Mevis had a rough day kicking, and that was the major difference in this game.
