Cincinnati Bengals Exercise Team Option on Ja’Marr Chase

The Cincinnati Bengals made a strategic move, announcing the exercise of a team option to extend the contract of star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase by one year. This decision ensures that the Bengals’ 2021 first-round draft pick will remain with the team through the 2025 NFL season. Ja’Marr Chase, now entering his fourth year in the league, has undoubtedly made his mark on the Bengals franchise since his arrival.

Having played and started in 45 regular-season games for Cincinnati, Chase has established himself as a vital component of the team’s offense. With an impressive stat line boasting 268 receptions, 3717 receiving yards, and 29 touchdowns, he has consistently been a standout performer on the field. Notably, Chase has led the Bengals in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns for the past three consecutive seasons, showcasing his indispensable role in the team’s offensive schemes.

His remarkable talents were recognized early on when he was awarded the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honor following his outstanding debut season in 2021. Additionally, Chase has earned Pro Bowl selections three times in his young career, further solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier wide receivers. In the 2023 NFL season, Chase reached new heights, recording a career-high 100 receptions, which tied for the second-most in a single season in Bengals history.

Accompanied by 1216 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, his stellar performance contributed significantly to the team’s success.  Furthermore, Chase joined an elite group of players in NFL history by surpassing the 1000-yard receiving mark in each of his first three seasons—a testament to his exceptional skill and consistency. Beyond his regular-season contributions, Chase has also excelled on the postseason stage, having played and started in seven playoff games for the Bengals. In these crucial match ups, he has emerged as a pivotal play maker, setting franchise records for postseason receptions (45) and receiving yards (588).

His ability to elevate his performance under pressure has been instrumental in the Bengals’ postseason endeavors. As the Bengals look ahead to the future, securing Ja’Marr Chase’s services for an additional year underscores their commitment to building a formidable and competitive team. With Chase’s electrifying talent and proven track record of success, he remains a cornerstone of the Bengals’ aspirations for continued excellence on the field. As he continues to evolve and refine his skills, the Bengals and their fans can eagerly anticipate witnessing the further exploits of this dynamic play maker in the years to come.
