Top 5 NFL Contenders for the Upcoming Season

With the NFL season only a few months away, here are my top five contenders to win the Super Bowl.

    1. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have been in the AFC Conference championship game each of the last few seasons and have hosted all those games. Even without all-pro receiver Tyrek Hill, the Chiefs still showed how dynamic their offense can be. It starts at the quarterback position with Patrick Mahomes, then tight end Travis Kelce, on top of that all-pro defensive tackle Chris Jones. I fully expect the Chiefs’ offense to be one of the best in the league and Mahomes to have an MVP-type season. Mahomes is widely considered the best player in the league, and until someone takes him out, I’m rolling with the Chiefs as my number-one team to win it all this season.

    1. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles showed tremendous progress last season, making it to the Super Bowl but falling short to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-35. The Eagles have had a great offseason up to this point, most notably adding running back D’andre Swift. The Eagles also had a very promising draft, adding Jalen Carter, Nolin Smith, and Keele Ringo, all of whom attended the University of Georgia. Expect Jordan Davis and Devonte Smith, who are both entering their sophomore year in the NFL, to take a step forward, and expect Jalen Hurts to compete for the MVP trophy. From top to bottom, the Eagles are the deepest team in the entire league, plus the coaching of Nick Sirianni; expect the Eagles to be right back in Super Bowl contention.

    1. Cincinnati Bengals

It starts with Joe Burrow. Burrow has shown, like Mahomes, that he steps up his play during the playoffs. Burrow is cool, calm, and collected in high-pressure moments, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I fully expect Burrow and Chase to be one of the best combos in the league. Also look for Tee Higgins to have one of the best seasons of his career. Zac Taylor is also one of the best head coaches in the NFL and one of the youngest coaches who can draw up high-level plays in pressure situations. Ultimately because of Burrow, Chase, and the experience he has, I have the Cincinnati Bengals as my number three team to win the Super Bowl this season.

    1. Buffalo Bills

The Bills have experienced a few heartbreaking losses in the past few seasons. They still have Josh Allen. He’s one of the better quarterbacks in the league and has a great coaching staff. The Bills have had significant success in the regular season but are having trouble translating success into playoff success. We will see if they make any more moves before the season starts. I expect a Bills team to play with a sense of urgency and pride this coming season.

    1. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers were plagued with injuries last season but still had a stellar season. Trey Lance isn’t the answer. The organization was ready to move on from Jimmy Gorropollo. Mr. Irrelevant Brock Purdy stepped in and didn’t lose a single game until the playoffs. The 49ers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. Purdy got injured at the start of that game and didn’t return, so who knows what would have happened. I fully expect Purdy to be the starting quarterback. The Niners have one of the best defenses in the entire league and some of the most dynamic playmakers. Those include Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle. Combining this with the coaching of Kyle Shanahan, expect the Niners to be in the mix this season.
