Angel Reese opened the game with a bloody lip and a botched lash extension after taking a punch to the face during the first half. She would use this as ammunition to make history against the Wolverines. Reese spoke on the busted lip saying, “It’s always something. Either a lash, a contact — always got something going on — but I play through it.”

Reese assisted with some impressive stats to add to her team’s wins. She locked in a double-double with 25 points, 24 rebounds, six blocks, and three steals. Reese passed Sylvia Fowles and broke the LSU record for the most rebounds in an NCAA Tournament game. The LSU forward became the first player with 25 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks in an NCAA Women’s Tournament game since 2000.

Angel Reese spoke on what compelled her to play so hard tonight. Reese added, “for me I was hungry. I didn’t want to let my seniors go out on a loss. This means more than me. It’s bigger than me. They had their last game in the Pmac of their career,” she said. “Just being able to go out there and play as hard as I could and just being out there and leaving it all on the floor for them was just the most important thing for me tonight.”

The Tigers will travel to Greenville, South Carolina, to face No 2. Utah on Friday in the Sweet 16 Tournament.
