The Louisville Kings were announced as a new United Football League (UFL) team on October 7, 2025, set to begin play in Spring 2026 at Lynn Family StadiumAs one of three new franchises, the Kings were introduced alongside new teams in Columbus and Orlando, replacing three outgoing UFL teams. The team’s name, a nod to King Louis XVI and the “Sport of Kings” for horse racing, was chosen to honor Louisville’s heritage.
