In front of an ecstatic Faurot Field crowd at Memorial Stadium, the Missouri Tigers dominated their way to another victory, improving to an impressive 5-0 on the season. They dismantled the UMass Minutemen 42-6, putting together a statement win that capped off the 114th Mizzou Homecoming game in style.

Homecoming is a tradition that runs deep in Columbia. The very first homecoming game was played at Mizzou in 1911 when the school invited alumni back to campus to watch the Tigers take on their longtime rival, Kansas. More than a century later, that single idea has grown into a week-long celebration filled with parades, pep rallies, campus events, community pride, and a football game that ties it all together. Saturday night, the Tigers delivered exactly what their fans were hoping for.
Quarterback Beau Pribula controlled the game with efficiency and poise, throwing for 241 yards while completing an outstanding 89.7% of his passes. His chemistry with transfer wide receiver Kevin Coleman Jr. (Mississippi State) continues to shine, as Coleman hauled in 12 catches for over 100 yards, carving up the UMass secondary and proving to be Pribula’s most reliable target downfield.
On the ground, the one-two punch of Ahmad Hardy and Jamaal Roberts once again fueled the offense. The duo combined for 182 rushing yards, breaking tackles and wearing down the Minutemen defense. Hardy entered the contest as the SEC’s leading rusher with 600 yards—averaging a remarkable 150 per game—and his ability to consistently create positive plays has set the tone for Missouri’s entire offensive identity.
There were no surprises on this Saturday night in Columbia. The Tigers took care of business at home before entering a much-needed bye week. After five straight weeks of football, the rest comes at a perfect time as Mizzou prepares for its biggest challenge yet: the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama is riding high after handing No. 5 Georgia its first loss of the season, and the showdown in Columbia is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated games on the Tigers’ schedule.

For Mizzou, the path to victory will come down to winning the chess match between Alabama’s explosive offense and the Tigers’ disciplined defense. The secondary must tighten its coverage and limit big plays downfield, while the defensive front needs to control the line of scrimmage and keep Alabama behind the chains. Offensively, ball security will be critical—Pribula and company cannot afford turnovers and must sustain drives by converting on third and fourth downs.
Hardy and Roberts will once again be leaned on to grind out tough yards, especially after contact. Against South Carolina earlier in the year, the pair broke a combined 16 tackles, setting the tone for a physical ground attack. Pribula also adds another wrinkle with his mobility; when plays break down, his ability to extend drives with his legs gives defenses fits, forcing them to defend both the pass and the run on every snap.
The stakes are high. Last season, Alabama shut out Missouri 34-0 in Tuscaloosa. Now, with the Tide coming to Columbia, the Tigers see this as a chance for redemption and validation. A victory could vault Mizzou into the national conversation as one of the top teams in the SEC. And with a stretch of ranked matchups looming—trips to Auburn and Vanderbilt followed by more challenges at home—this Alabama clash feels like the true measuring stick for just how far this Missouri team can go.
