Louisville’s Own Josh Minkins Jr. Returns Home — And He’s Giving Back

Louisville, it’s that time again! 🏈 Josh Minkins Jr. is back with his 4th Annual FREE Skills & Drills Camp — July 5 at Ballard High School! Open to youth ages 5–17, this is your chance to train with one of the city’s finest and learn from an NFL pro who once walked the same halls and ran the same fields. The camp has become a fixture in Louisville. It’s a chance for kids to sharpen their game and learn from a NFL player and proof that dreams born in Louisville can come true.

Josh Minkins Jr played football at Ballard High School. He’s a versatile safety with elite instincts and a relentless work ethic. Minkins took his talents to the University of Louisville.  During his time at Louisville, Minkins grew from a promising recruit into a leader in the secondary. He became a starter in 2022 and became known for his physical play and football IQ.

After a great Cardinal career, he went up l-71 for new challenges. Minkins transferred to the University of Cincinnati in 2024 as a graduate student. He may have had his best with 45 total tackles, four pass breakups, and two interceptions in 11 games. At both colleges Minkins had 132 tackles, four interceptions in 49 games.

Josh Minkins Jr. isn’t just playing for himself—he’s carrying forward a family tradition. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Josh Minkins Sr., a great Cardinal in his own right.  Now Josh Jr. is building on that foundation. Minkins Jr. entered the NFL draft going undrafted but signed with The New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent on a 3-year contract. He can play corner back and safety. His ability to contribute on special teams and fill multiple roles in the secondary could make him a key asset as roster battles heat up. All traits that define the Patriots way.

Coaches have praised his adaptability, toughness, and high football character. After his football camp it’s back to Offseason work. With NFL training camp around the corner, Minkins is ready to prove he’s better than players that were drafted over him. Whether he’s making tackles on Sundays or shaping future stars at Ballard High, Josh Minkins Jr. is proof that greatness begins at home.
