The ACHA Playoffs are fast approaching, and teams from across the nation are gearing up to compete in St. Louis, Missouri, for a chance to be crowned champions. One of the teams making the trip is the Oakland Golden Grizzlies Division III Men’s hockey team, which is looking to capture their first championship since 2016. Let’s take a closer look at five key players from the roster who could help bring the title back to Troy.

Brandon Danou (#11)
The first player to spotlight is arguably one of the best in the ACHA. In his final year of eligibility, Danou led the team and the league in goals with 35, earning First-Team MCHC honors, a spot on the MCHC Dream Team, and a second-place finish in MVP voting. His presence on the ice elevates those around him, and Oakland will rely heavily on him to be at his best. While he netted two goals against U of M Flint in the quarterfinals, he was quiet in the semifinal overtime loss to Hope. Danou will look to silence any doubts and lift the Grizzlies to victory in the tournament.

Shane Arbour (#14)

Arbour, one of Danou’s linemates, has been a key playmaker for the Golden Grizzlies. Tied for third in assists, Arbour consistently sets up his teammates, contributing to the offensive success of the team. His vision and passing ability will be crucial as Oakland looks to make a deep playoff run.

Jack Abbo (#19)
The other forward on Danou’s top line is someone who shouldn’t be overlooked. While Abbo may not be the dynamic goal scorer that Danou is, he’s still a potent offensive threat. The First-Team MCHC forward scored nearly 20 goals this regular season. Together with Danou and Arbour, Abbo completes one of the most dangerous lines in the tournament.

Reiss Williams (#5)
A sophomore and Second-Team MCHC honoree, Williams is the embodiment of a solid defenseman. When he’s on the ice, he’s a constant force, blocking shots, setting up offensive opportunities, and leading by example. His strong chemistry with captain Thomas Monte has helped him become an elite top-pairing defenseman for the Grizzlies.

Tate Potteiger (#35)
The Grizzlies’ go-to netminder, Potteiger has been rock solid in goal all season long. With a .926 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average, he ranks among the top goaltenders in the ACHA. His stellar play will be essential if Oakland is to make a serious run at the title.
