The Golden Grizzlies wrapped up a dominant series sweep, defeating the Bulldogs 6-1 in a hard-fought contest. Adrian did its best to keep the game competitive, especially through the first two periods, which were both low-scoring affairs. Oakland struck first in the opening period, with Jules Sainte-Marie deflecting a shot from Kyle Giza into the back of the net.  Adrian responded in the second period when Devin Bennett found a gap behind the defense and capitalized to even the score.

However, Oakland quickly regained the lead, as star forward Brandon Danou answered right back with a goal of his own, giving the Golden Grizzlies a 2-1 advantage. When the third period began, Oakland turned up the pressure, scoring four unanswered goals to pull away and seal the 6-1 victory, completing the series sweep of Adrian. The Bulldogs’ struggles were compounded by discipline issues, as they were sent to the penalty box 10 times throughout the game, compared to just one penalty for Oakland. This disparity in penalties proved costly for Adrian, as they couldn’t generate enough momentum to mount a comeback.

With the win, Oakland improves to a stellar 19-2-1-1 on the season, while Adrian falls to 7-9. The Golden Grizzlies will return to action next week, hosting the Michigan Wolverines from Ann Arbor on Friday, January 31st, at the Buffalo Wild Wings Arena. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will travel to Crystal Fieldhouse Ice Arena to face off against the Michigan Wolverines of Flint in their next matchup.
