Round 1 Viewership of 2024 NFL Draft Surpasses 2023

The 2024 NFL Draft kicked off with a bang in Detroit, captivating audiences across multiple platforms and breaking records in both television and live attendance. On the evening of April 26, 2024, football enthusiasts tuned in eagerly to witness the Round 1 coverage, resulting in an average viewership of 12.1 million across various networks, including ESPN, NFL Network, ABC, ESPN Deportes, and digital channels. This marked a notable increase of 6% compared to the previous year’s Round 1 broadcast, which garnered 11.4 million viewers, and stood as the highest viewership for Round 1 since 2021.

The excitement didn’t end there. Thursday night’s coverage of Round 1 boasted a total unduplicated audience of 34.3 million viewers, a figure not seen since the 2021 Draft. Such a substantial turnout underscores the enduring appeal and cultural significance of the NFL Draft, reaffirming its status as a premier event in the sports world.

What’s more, the 2024 NFL Draft is being presented in its entirety across ABC, ESPN, and NFL Network, marking the sixth consecutive year of collaboration between The Walt Disney Company and the National Football League to deliver a comprehensive, multi-network broadcast of the Draft. This strategic partnership has undoubtedly contributed to the widespread accessibility and exposure of the Draft, ensuring that fans can follow every pick and trade seamlessly across different platforms.

The enthusiasm for the Draft extended beyond the digital realm, as evidenced by the staggering live attendance figures. Over 275,000 fans flocked to Detroit to witness Round 1 in person, shattering the previous all-time Day One Draft attendance record of 200,000 set by Nashville in 2019. This remarkable turnout not only underscores the fervent passion of football fans but also highlights the city of Detroit as a vibrant host for such monumental sporting events.

In summary, the 2024 NFL Draft has already made waves with its impressive viewership numbers, multi-network coverage, and record-breaking live attendance. As the Draft continues through all seven rounds, football enthusiasts can expect the excitement and anticipation to remain palpable, setting the stage for the next generation of gridiron stars to make their mark on the league. How will next year shape up?
