12 days ago, we witnessed a highly anticipated clash between Liverpool and Manchester United in the FA Cup quarterfinals, a match that promised to propel the victor closer to the cup finals.

Liverpool, leading the Premier League standings at that time, entered the game as clear favorites. They’ve enjoyed a remarkable season so far, rebounding from a lackluster 2022-2023 campaign. On the other hand, United’s story has been a stark contrast this season. Their on-field performances have been extremely disappointing, with star players such as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes failing to meet their usual standards.

The match proved to be a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging blows throughout. Man United took the lead first with a goal from Scott McTominay in the 10th minute, putting Liverpool on the defensive early on. However, the Reds (Liverpool) swiftly responded with consecutive goals from Alexis Mac Allister (44th minute) and Mohamed Salah (45+2 minutes). As the game neared its end, Antony’s 87th-minute strike leveled the score, sending the match into extra time.

The Red Devils of Manchester United ultimately clinched victory, scoring two more goals to Liverpool’s one. While Harvey Elliot opened the scoring for the Reds in the 105th minute, Rashford equalized seven minutes later for United. In the closing moments of extra time, Amad Diallo secured the win with a goal in the 120+1st minute.
