The NBA has launched an inquiry into Jontay Porter, a two-way player for the Toronto Raptors, following allegations of involvement in gambling activities. The investigation was sparked by reported disparities in prop betting markets related to Porter’s on-court performance. On Jan. 26 and March 20, Porter briefly appeared in games before leaving due to injury or illness, raising concerns about the integrity of his actions during gameplay. Porter was noticeably absent from the team on Monday, with the Raptors attributing his absence to personal reasons.

Coach Darko Rajaković was informed of the NBA’s investigation shortly before their Monday game, adding complexity to the situation. ESPN initially reported on the investigation, focusing on Porter’s performance in the two games. Sportsbooks had set prop bets for various statistical categories related to Porter’s gameplay against the Los Angeles Clippers. Rajaković emphasized his trust in players’ integrity and commitment but acknowledged that this situation presented a unique challenge for him as a coach.

Currently, Porter remains sidelined by the Raptors due to undisclosed personal reasons. Porter, a member of the Raptors on a two-way deal dividing his time between the NBA and G-League, is the subject of an NBA inquiry due to anomalies in prop betting markets linked to him. His early exits from games, citing injury or illness, have raised integrity concerns.
