My Pac-12 Player of the Week is senior guard Jermaine Couisnard of the Oregon Ducks. In two NCAA Tournament games, Couisnard led the No. 11 seed Ducks to a 1-1 record with two standout performances. On Thursday, March 21, Couisnard delivered his best performance of the season in an 87-73 victory over his former team, the No. 6 seed South Carolina Gamecocks, in the round of 64. Playing 37 minutes, Couisnard scored 40 points, shooting 14-for-22 overall, 5-for-9 from 3-point range, and 7-for-7 from the free throw line, along with four rebounds, six assists, and only one turnover.

It marked the first occasion Couisnard’s grandmother was able to watch him play live. In the round of 32 against the No. 3 seed Creighton Bluejays on Saturday, March 23, Couisnard followed up with a solid 32 points. He shoot 13-for-33 overall and 6-for-12 from beyond the arc, and added eight rebounds, three assists, and only one turnover in 29 minutes. Despite his efforts, Oregon was edged out in a double-overtime loss, 86-73, to Creighton.

Couisnard has scored over 30 points three times this season, including a 39-point performance against the No. 6 Arizona Wildcats on March 2, alongside his two NCAA Tournament showings. He reached double figures in scoring in 31 of his 36 games this season and also notched his first career double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds in an 84-70 win over Kent State on Dec. 21. Couisnard finished the season averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, with a shooting percentage of 40% overall and 34.6% from 3-point range, all improvements from last season.

He leads Oregon in both points and assists per game. The Ducks’ season has concluded, finishing their final campaign in the Pac-12 with a 24-12 record (12-8 in the Pac-12), capturing the Pac-12 Tournament title as the No. 4 seed, and securing their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2021. Oregon will transition to the Big Ten Conference starting next season.
