With this win, the Redhawks marked their 17th loss of the season for Eastern Michigan while solidifying their spot in the MAC tournament. Miami asserted their dominance early on, establishing a 15-4 lead with a remarkable 10-0 run within the first half. Despite Eastern Michigan’s efforts to rally back, Miami maintained their momentum throughout the game.
A highlight of the first half came with a thunderous dunk by Potter, assisted by Bultman, as Miami concluded the initial period with a 22-17 advantage. In the second half, Hunter and Elmer emerged as key players for Miami, consistently contributing points through three-pointers, layups, and free throws. Hunter’s early three-point jumper and steal leading to a layup propelled the Redhawks to a ten-point lead. Hunter tallied eight of his ten points in the second half, while Elmer showcased his prowess with seven rebounds and ten points overall.
Miami remained in control throughout the game, preventing Eastern Michigan from seizing the lead beyond the first minute. With nine minutes left in the second half, Dean’s three-point jumper, assisted by Isparo, pushed the Redhawks to their largest lead of the game, an impressive 18 points. The Redhawks showcased their defensive prowess with 10 steals, contributing to an impressive 17 points off turnovers.

Notably, this game marked the first time in 16 years that Miami held their opponent under 40 points for the entire duration.
