- Why are you so interested in sports journalism?
I grew up with both a passion for sports and writing. With my mom being an English teacher, she encouraged me to write and tell stories. Additionally, growing up playing sports, I knew early on that I would always want to have sports play a role in my life in some form. Through being a player, coach, and spectator, I felt as though it gives me a unique perspective when it comes to sports journalism and serves as an outlet for my passion.
2. What is your favorite sport and why?
My favorite sport is basketball. I played all my life through youth, high school, and college; and still coach. Basketball is one of the biggest sports in the world, and I love how it brings people together.
3. What is your favorite sports moment?
One of my favorite sports moments is Kawhi Leonard’s game-winning shot during the 2019 Playoff series against the 76ers. It was a tied game seven, and the Raptors had home court advantage. The shot went up, and bounced on the rim before falling in. The silence of the crowd while the ball bounced, the anticipation of Leonard’s teammates watching the bounce, and the eruption of the crowd when the ball fell, to me, truly shows how much basketball and sports brings people together, and the emotions that come with sports.
4. What is your favorite genre of music?
Some of my favorite genres of music would have to be R&B or Alternative.
5. What are your favorite hobbies?
Some of my favorite hobbies include going to the gym, reading, and, of course, playing basketball with friends.
6. How can people follow you on social media?
People are able to follow me on X @TaliaThibodeau
