The Tigers’ defense made a statement right from the first two possessions, forcing a three-and-out on Arkansas’ first drive. It concluded with a seven-yard sack on quarterback KJ Jefferson by defensive back Sydney Williams. UArk’s next offensive possession saw Daylan Carnell strip the ball out of Jefferson’s hands after the QB’s 22-yard run. Darius Robinson recovered the ball, and Jefferson exited the game for good with a leg injury on the play.
DBs Dreyden Norwood and Jaylon Carlies each had a pass breakup in the second quarter. Norwood broke up a pass on third-and-six from the Arkansas 39-yard line, while Carlies deflected a Jacolby Criswell pass that was intended for running back Dominique Johnson on third down. Criswell substituted in for Jefferson at QB.
MU continued to excel defensively in the early stages of the second half. Carlies’ sack on Criswell forced a fumble recovered by linebacker Triston Newson. Kirby Moore’s offense capitalized on the extra possession, as Brady Cook connected with tight end Brett Norfleet for a 16-yard touchdown to extend Missouri’s lead to 27-0.

Missouri concluded the contest by forcing another turnover. DL Realus George Jr.’s sack on Criswell dislodged the ball, and Newson recovered his second fumble of the night with 10 seconds remaining.
Newson (15 total, six solo) and Williams (six total, five solo) led the way for Baker’s defense on Friday. MU recorded four sacks during the matchup, with Williams, Hicks, George, and Nyles Gaddy each contributing one. The Tigers also finished the game with four pass breakups. Along with Norwood and Carlies, Carnell and defensive tackle Kristian Williams both had a breakup.
