With the NBA training camp approaching in a few weeks, we should dive into the top point guards heading into the season. We all know that the NBA has become a guard-dominant league, and with top guards, play can lead to a championship. Here are the top five-point guards heading into this NBA season.

1. Steph Curry

Steph Curry is still the best point guard in the league and has been for years. He is the best shooter in history and the number one reason the Warriors will still be in championship contention. Expect MVP-type numbers for Steph Curry this season, and he and the Warriors will look to bounce back after their second-round loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

2. Luka Doncic

Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the league. At an early age, Luka uses his size, strength, ball handling, and shooting ability to score. He’s also gets his teammates involved. Luka has an MVP trophy in his future, and I expect him to play this season with tremendous urgency as the Mavericks look to have a better season than they did last year. Luka can fill up the stat sheet, which is the key to Maverick’s success this year. I fully expect Luka to have an MVP-type season.

3. Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard will be the second-best point guard this season. Most forget Lillard was shut down for the latter half of last season because the Blazers fell out of playoff contention. Lillard, like Curry, is a terrific three-point shooter and can pull up from anywhere. Who knows what team Lillard will be playing for next season but expects him to come out and put on a show. Lillard also has extreme athleticism and can finish at the rim with the best.

4. Jamal Murray

Jamal Murray, recently off winning an NBA championship last season with the Denver Nuggets, will be looking to continue his stellar play and repeat as NBA champions. Murray proved last season that he one of the best players in the league. Many didn’t know how he would play after being injured for so long. Murray is also very athletic and a capable defender. I expect Murray and the Denver Nuggets to be at the top of the Western Conference this season.

5. Ja Morant

Ja Morant has extreme athleticism and an extremely high upside. Morant and the Grizzlies have struggled with injuries/off the court issues. Morant is suspended for the first 25 games of the regular season. When he returns, I expect him and the Grizzlies to bounce back from their first-round exit to the Lakers. If everyone can stay healthy, Ja can lead this team deep into the playoffs.
