The time has come for the undeclared national holiday that is the Super Bowl and for the first time in 50 years, the Kansas City Chiefs will be representing the AFC.

Two of the most storied teams in football will play for the right to raise the Vince Lombardi trophy. The Chiefs played in the very first Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers stand on the opposite sideline in what was once a dynasty. The 49ers seek to tie the New England Patriots for most Super Bowl wins with six.

Gridiron Greatness

The story-lines of the Super Bowl are endless, the classic story of the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes leads the best offense in football against Nick Bosa and the best front four defense in the league.

It’s the league’s most versatile running game against one of its most poorly-run defenses. The young phenom quarterback looking to stamp his name as the best QB. And for the 49ers ,can QB Jimmy G live up to his massive contract?

The Field Commanders

As far as the coaches go, it’s the young, hot, up-and-comer vs the grizzled veteran. Andy Reid has the most wins in NFL history without winning a Super Bowl. While Kyle Shanahan is the son of a two-time Super Bowl coach and possible Hall of Fame coach Mike Shanahan.

Both coaches have redemption knocking at their doorstep. Kyle Shanahan was the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons who blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots. The Super Bowl could be the start of the NFL’s new dynasty with the young talent on the 49ers roster. For Reid, he’s been to six Conference Championship, losing to the Patriots in the big game himself. With a Super Bowl win “Big Red” will no doubt be a hall of fame coach.

Gender Reveal

Finally, the Super Bowl will break gender barriers with offensive assistant coach Katie Sowers being the first woman to coach in the big game. The 33-year-old joined the team in 2017 as a seasonal offensive assistant, becoming the second woman to serve in a full-time coaching role. This Super Bowl is about fresh faces, young starts and new stories to breakdown for the next two weeks.
