Watt’s Up? J.J. out for the season

One of the best overall players in the NFL will miss the rest of the season.

Houston Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt injured his shoulder Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. He tweeted he is “absolutely gutted” he won’t be able to finish the season. Watt reportedly tore a pectoral muscle, but the surgery went well with no complications.

The injury is a huge blow for a Texans team who are in one of the most competitive in the NFL. J.J. twitted:

“This game can be beautiful and it can also be brutal. Absolutely gutted that I won’t be able to finish the season with my guys and give the fans what they deserve. I truly love this game and can’t stand letting you guys down. Thank you for all of the thoughts & well-wishes.”

Before leaving the game, Watt had three tackles, a tackle for a loss and a pass defended.

He’s one of the few defensive players in recent memory to be considered a league MVP. The Texans are currently second behind the Colts in the AFC South.
