Teams and players can begin legal ‘tampering’ today, but can not sign contracts until the new league year begins Wednesday.
Top free-agent names such as Le’Veon Bell, Earl Thomas, Nick Foles, and others are available as teams look to improve during this off season.
Here’s the latest news and notes at the start of NFL Free Agency:
- According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo QB Nick Foles will sign a 4-year, $88 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars
- According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter DE Trey Flowers intends to sign with the Detroit Lions, it will be a 5-year deal.
- According to ESPN’s Josina Anderson, S Landon Collins will sign with Washington Redskins, it will be a 6-year, $84 million according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
- According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, the Giants are involved in trade discussions for WR Odell Beckham, Jr.
- DT Malik Jackson will sign a 3-year, $30 million deal with the Eagles, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson & NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
- WR DeSean Jackson has been traded by the Tampa Bay Bucs to the Eagles, per Adam Caplan; updated from earlier reports by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.
- OL Trent Brown plans to sign a 4-year $66 million contract with $36.75 million guaranteed, with the Oakland Raiders, making him highest paid OL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
- LB Kwon Alexander will sign a 4-year, $54 million, with the 49ers, with $27 million guaranteed, this according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
- Per NFL Network’s Jane Slater, S Earl Thomas is looking for at $14 million per season from his next team.
- WR Danny Amendola will sign a free-agent deal with the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN’s Dianna Russini.
- OL Jason Peters signs a 1-year, $10 million, $5.5 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport
